Keep it under your hat, but a couple of fellas beside the waterfall are bootlegging the best booze in the Queen City. Not to mention that they’ve got steaks as thick as The Great Gatsby. Apparently they know a local guy who saves ‘em the best cuts.

‘The bookshelf to hide our lounge is still under construction, but other than that Tommy’s is open for business,’ says Daniel Celis, managing partner over at Tommy’s Speakeatery (2710 Montague Street). ‘Between the steakhouse-style booths, butcher block tables in our dining room and the pool tables in the lounge, we’ve managed to bring the 1920s back to Regina.’

Despite a huge menu where everything is made in-house, including the pastrami and mustard, the cocktail list is what makes Tommy’s a destination.

‘We really took our time to get our drink menu just right. There are plenty of classics, like the Tommy’s Collins, but our Untouchable adds a few twists to a classic Old Fashioned,’ says Celis.

‘As a gastropub, we are all about being fresh, local and homemade. If it had a pulse it was raised and butchered right here in Saskatchewan. For example, our dill pickle chicken tenders are not ground up pink stuff that’s battered and fried. It’s chicken breast marinated in dill pickle so it’s hot and juicy when it hits your table.î

Kids are welcome in the dining room and there is a huge room for private events. Other than that, check out the lounge and shoot some pool while experiencing what life could have been like 100 years ago - just don’t tell the fuzz.
